Patient Navigator
A person who helps guide a patient through the healthcare system. This includes help going through the screening, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of a medical condition, such as cancer. A patient navigator helps patients communicate with their healthcare providers so they get the information they need to make decisions about their health care. Patient navigators may also help patients set up appointments for doctor visits and medical tests and get financial, legal, and social support. They may also work with insurance companies, employers, case managers, lawyers, and others who may have an effect on a patient’s healthcare needs. Also called patient advocate.

All coaching/patient navigation services and communication, email or otherwise, delivered by your Cancer Coach/Patient Navigator, are meant to help you identify the areas in your life and in your thinking that may be challenging to you during your cancer experience. This agreement is for coaching, not psychotherapy. While coaching can work with issues such as identifying and reaching life goals, and changing the behaviors that aren’t working well for you, coaching cannot deal with issues such as clinical depression and anxiety. For issues such as these, you must see a Physician or Licensed Mental Health Professional in your location. Your coach will not diagnose or treat any medical or psychological conditions.
